Until recent years you either used what everyone else did, or you could make your own toothpaste at home with some simple ingredients. Natural toothpaste is simply cleaning products for the teeth and gums that do not contain any chemicals or manmade ingredients. It may or may not be in a paste form. Some natural cleaning products come in a liquid form and may only require a few drops sprinkled on your brush to clean well. Others may be powdered and mixed with water to form a paste that can then be used.
No matter what form it comes in the most important component is the ingredients themselves. Most regular toothpaste contain a combination of several key ingredients including fluoride, some form of sugar, and sodium laurel sulfate (SLS)—a detergent found in many health and hygiene products like soap and shampoo. SLS is what makes the foamy suds that we associate with brushing our teeth, and it may be combined with various other chemicals that keep your toothpaste moist, remove calcium and magnesium from the mouth, and to even make it thicker.
Natural toothpaste does not contain any of these synthetic chemicals and is derived from ingredients that are found from natural sources like plants and herbs. Even though they contain many different ingredients from what regular toothpaste holds you may notice very little differences when you use a natural form. Effective and reliable, natural toothpaste is a safe alternative to traditional oral care methods. When used regularly and with proper brushing techniques and flossing your oral health can be not only maintained but also improved.
Look for natural ingredients like peppermint, spearmint and almond oils in the ingredient list. Keep an open mind about individual products and remember that just because it doesn’t look like a paste, doesn’t mean that it won’t be effective.
So you’ve gone through training as a medical transcriptionist and you’re ready to work. Surely someone will hire you!
This may be the hardest part if your school does not offer job placement assistance or if you studied on your own. Not all or even many companies hire inexperienced medical transcriptionists. It can pay, however, to check with companies whose listed requirements you do not meet due to lack of experience. Some may make exceptions if you can pass their test.
Testing is a quick way for a company to find out what your skill level is. If the company is local, they may test you at their location; distant companies may send out a test or have you test online. No matter how the test is performed, don’t rush, and make sure to check your work.
A good school will help you with finding companies willing to test and hire you.
You will want to have some idea as to the schedule you will be willing to work. I would suggest being available for at least 20 hours per week. Some companies may require that you stick to a schedule, so be realistic about the hours you can work. Don’t assume that any children you may have will cooperate or that naps will always be a particular length. You’ll have an advantage if they are in school, but otherwise, be ready to work at night or early in the morning when the children are asleep. You will need peace and quiet to be able to understand some of the doctors.
Be careful when you choose an employer, as there are scam companies in this field, just as in many other work at home opportunities. Some companies out there claim to hire completely inexperienced people and train them as medical transcriptionists, but so far I have not heard of one that was not a scam. The catch is that you can never meet their standards to become a paid employee. Don’t fall for it.
Fortunately, there are plenty of good companies out there. With outsourcing to other countries it can be a little rougher than it used to be, but the jobs are still out there. If your school offers help in landing that first job, take their help. Some only include it with their more expensive plans, so you want to think ahead even before you begin training.
All is not lost if you don’t have help finding that first job. Research medical transcription employers and ask on medical transcription forums about companies willing to hire new graduates. Check with local doctors, dentists, chiropractors, etc. The jobs are out there, it just takes a little effort to find them.
The world of insurance can be confusing and sometimes it’s easier to just delay the decision. But you need to consider the fact that medical costs are getting dearer and dearer. Unfortunately, many people can identify with the situation where they’ve been caught unawares with a huge medical bill that causes a financial crisis. Don’t you want to be prepared if you suddenly find yourself or a family member with the expense of intensive dental care, a chronic illness, or an emergency operation? Being prepared means having health insurance.
Trying to decide what options available in health insurance are suitable for yourself or family can cause confusion and possibly a headache! So let’s make it a little easier for you to begin.
Maybe you’ve decided that the Government program Medicaid or, if you’re over 65, the Federal program Medicare, is all you need. The state decides if you are eligible for this health insurance, usually dependant on income. It is available for people with disabilities, pensioners and dependents. Under this program, you have very little choice in doctor, hospital, etc. Although the health care is usually sufficient, there may be long waiting lists.
If you want more insurance than the above, you must decide what you can afford to pay for your health insurance. Along with your financial limit, you must also decide what your requirements are. For example, are you looking primarily for something suited for one person, or for a couple, or a family? Do you need extras like dental care, physiotherapy and such like included, usually for extra costs? Do you want to be able to choose your own doctor if admitted to hospital? Do you have a particular hospital you would prefer to go to?
Types of Health Insurance:
Fee-for-service health insurance has two main parts: basic coverage and major medical. Basic coverage insures for short term expenses. When that is used up, major medical covers long-term expenses, which really protects you and your family against huge medical costs. This type of health cover is the most expensive as you are paying for medical cover regardless of how much health care is given.
Another health insurance type is through Health Maintenance Organizations (HMOs). For a paid monthly premium, the HMO will pay some of your medical costs depending on which plan you have chosen. They have lower premiums than other health plans but you don’t have the choice of a doctor or facility.
Preferred Provider Organizations (PPOs) are a group of doctors & hospitals that give medical services to specific groups. This means your favorite doctor must be part of this group for you to receive reimbursement.
Disability insurance covers lost income if you are unable to continue to work due to long-term illness or injury. Only working-age people need to consider this type.
If you require care for a long period then Long Term Care Insurance is designed to cover expenses.
Often a stay in hospital cannot be avoided and this is where it gets expensive if you don’t have health insurance. Hospital Indemnity Insurance will pay a preset amount for up to a certain number of days to cover costs.
The finer details of these types of insurance require research to match your needs with their services but this is important if you are to choose the best for you and/or your family. You need to have some idea of what you need to make an informed decision. There is a wealth of information online for you to read or you can talk to an insurance agent. Some plans are available online which you may choose to consider.
Summary:
Don’t get caught with unexpected medical costs. Having health insurance will protect you and your family so that you can have necessary treatments when you require them without the added financial strain.

Those of us who claim that we do not practice any form of alternative medicine or therapies have missed out considering all the simple remedies that we apply at home.
Consider the following examples:-
- Do you massage your neck at the back when you have a splitting headache?
- Do you put an ice pack on a sprained ankle?
- Have you not ever used some aromatherapy for your room?
- Have you not ever take some honey when you are having a bad throat?
- Have you not ever taken chamomile tea for cooling and for de-stress?
- Do you drink your mum’s traditional herbal chicken soup home brewed for 10 hours meant for strengthening and warming your internal body?
In fact, these represent just a few out of the many simple remedies that we use in our everyday life. When we think of alternative medicine or therapies, we conjure images of some out-of-the-ordinary practices. Of course, alternative medicine and therapies can range to the more “unconventional” ones like hypnotherapy, past life regression, energy healing, etc. But mostly, they are not.
Here comes some surprising statistics. The World Health Organization estimates that between 65 and 80 percent of the world’s population (about 3 billion people) rely on traditional (read: “alternative”) medicine as their primary form of health care. It further states that when these traditional medical treatments are introduced into Western culture, they are seen as complementary or alternative.
Most of us tend to fail to factor in these alternative everyday remedies, but choose to think that we are believers of conventional medicine versus alternative medicine. After all, conventional medicine is very much backed by well documented research, statistics and proven theories; whereas alternative medicine is not. Still, having the benefit of practicing some of these home remedies, there is no denying that they do help in providing some form of relief and treatment. In addition, they don’t cost much in terms of money and time, and most importantly, have few or little side effects.
It is therefore, a good idea to spend some time to get to know more about these alternative therapies and remedies and apply them more diligently to our everyday life. We may choose to include massage therapy, aromatherapy, eating a healthy diet, practicing yoga and relaxing breathing techniques. In the end, our spending on drugs and doctor’s bills is likely to be less and at the same time, we will be adopting natural methods to heal ourselves.

Taking medicine has its risks. In fact, some medicine you take will have more risks than the illness you are tying to cure by taking the medicine. There are a lot of things about medicine your probably don’t know, but are facts that you need to educate yourself on so you can be as healthy as possible and know what is going on with your body.
Before you take any medicine, make sure you know what the medicine is, the name of it, and why you are taking it. Mistakes happen all the time in the medical field, so it is up to you to make sure you are getting the correct medicine.
Also, ask how long you should take the medicine and in what doses. Some medicine needs to be taken frequently while others are only once a day or even once a week. Make sure you are very clear on the dosage schedule for the medicine.
Find out if there are any foods or activities you need to avoid while taking a particular medicine. Some drugs will warn you to stay away from the sun or not drive while others will suggest you avoid certain foods and most will warn against drinking any alcoholic beverages. You will also want to know if any over the counter drugs like Tylenol can be taken when you are taking a particular medicine as well. Be sure you are clear on these recommendations before you take any medicine.
You should always ask your doctor if there are any other side effects of the medicine and what they might be. Also, some side effects of medicine are very serious so if you are taking a medicine that has a high risk factor you will want to be well informed and know what to do in case of an emergency.
Medicine is great because it helps people fight illnesses, feel better, and live with aches and pains. However, one should always be fully educated about a particular medicine before beginning a regimen.

Pimple is a result of a blockage of the skin’s pore. Pimples are small skin lesions or inflammations commonly arising from clogged or infected pores. Pimples can be a source of social isolation that can lead to frustration and depression. Pimples affect almost 90% of the population at some time during their lives. Pimples can form when dead skin cells mix with extra sebum (oily secretion of the sebaceous gland) plug the opening of hair follicles and trap the normal bacteria found on the skin. Pimples commonly show up during adolescence. Although pimples affect around 20 million teenagers in the United States, there is a growing number of adults with skin blemishes. Pimples can occur throughout adulthood, depending on your hormonal activity, heredity and hygiene. Majority of teenagers and adolescents experience pimple outbreaks. This happens when the skin tries to adjust to hormonal changes typically during puberty. However, even adults can have pimples, especially those who are most exposed to dirt and experience a lot of stress. Also women typically develop pimple outbreaks during their menstrual cycle when their hormones surge before or during their menstrual cycle.
Pimples, blackheads, and whiteheads can form on the face, chest, arms, neck, and back. Acne can range from mild to severe and can last a few weeks, months, years or can come and go throughout life. Several factors contribute to the onset of pimples. Both adult and teenage acne is usually caused by hormonal changes in the body. Hormonal Acne is very common among young women and some men. Most importantly, elevation of hormones produced during puberty or the menstrual cycle in women result in the hormone by-product called DHT. This hormone by product overstimulates the oil gland resulting in plugging of the pore and acne production. Clogged pores or follicles are a primary cause of pimples. Skin bacteria ( Propionibacterium acnes) multiply in clogged pores where they release a substance that can produce irritation and inflammation. The wall of the pores can sometimes burst, spreading inflammation to the surrounding skin. This results in acne lesions that go from blackheads to pimples to nodules. Common over-the-counter medications for pimples are Benzoyl peroxide and/or salicylic acid. Both medications can be found in many creams and gels used to treat acne through topical application. Regular skin cleansing regimen to rid your pores of unwanted particles and dirt.

Most people do not realize this but excess sugar is considered one of the main causes of premature aging. The more sugar we eat, the more sugar we have entering our
bloodstream. Over time, this can result in a process known as glycation, which is when a glucose (sugar) molecule damages a protein molecule by sticking to it. The new molecules formed are called advanced glycation end-products, or AGEs. AGEs damage collagen in skin, cartilage, and ligaments and promote a loss of elasticity. Wrinkles form and skin begins to sag.
